Stamford American Hosts First Model United Nations Conference

We at Stamford American School Hong Kong are thrilled to announce the successful completion of our inaugural Model United Nations (MUN) Conference, held on September 28th and 29th. Under the theme ‘Heads Up!’, this landmark event gathered 51 delegates from six schools across Hong Kong, fostering a dynamic environment for diplomatic engagement and deeper comprehension of global issues.

The conference was buzzing with energy and enthusiasm as our students, alongside peers from other schools, embarked on rich dialogues and debates about pressing global challenges. It was a profound display of collaboration and diplomacy, showcasing these young diplomats’ ability to negotiate, articulate nuanced positions, and build consensus—skills essential for navigating the complexities of international relations.

Our meticulous planning and execution process was a testament to our students’ dedication and hard work, embodying the core values Stamford American School holds dear: courage, compassion, integrity, scholarship, and innovation. Each participant’s commitment to excellence ensured the event’s success, highlighting the power of collective effort and individual dedication.

The event was further enriched by insights from our distinguished guest speakers, Mr. Jeffrey Andrews and Mdm Uzma Naveed from Christian Action, who are deeply involved in refugee and human rights initiatives in Hong Kong. Their inspirational speeches provided unique perspectives and invaluable insights, motivating our students to engage deeply with the conference themes and encouraging them to consider broader humanitarian contexts.

The presence of these speakers not only enhanced the educational experience but also inspired our students to actively seek innovative solutions to the global challenges discussed. The discussions that followed were a testament to the significant impact that knowledgeable, passionate individuals can have in educational settings.

As the conference concluded, it was clear that this event was much more than an academic exercise; it served as a catalyst for personal and collective growth. The knowledge and experiences gained are sure to influence our students in their future endeavors and inspire continued engagement with global issues.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our students, teachers, staff, and guest speakers whose collective efforts made this event a resounding success. The dedication, passion, and commitment to positive change displayed by everyone involved have not only enriched our school community but have also set a high standard for future events.

Reflecting on this successful inaugural conference, we are inspired by our students’ ability to discuss complex topics with maturity and insight. We look forward to hosting more events that foster learning and growth, confident in our students’ continued development as thoughtful leaders of tomorrow.
