High School Grades 9 - 12

IB World School

Stamford American School Hong Kong is through-train IB World School that offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). All graduates will receive the Stamford American US High School Diploma accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS), which provides your child a passport to universities globally. Children can also pursue a choice to three graduation pathways-the full IBDP or select curated IB courses to broaden their horizons. Over 5,000 universities in 100 countries accept the IBDP. All our graduates receive a Stamford American High School Diploma fully accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

Personalized Innovative Curriculum to Foster Every Aspiration

The Stamford High School experience is unique in Hong Kong, offering students access to a cutting-edge, fully integrated STEM curriculum (STEMinn) and 72 hours of industry experience in our Cornerstones Program with four portfolio-building projects. Students benefit from small cohorts by receiving personalized instruction and support from our international expert faculty.

In Grades 9 and 10, students continue to study the American standards-based curriculum and then choose their best-fit pathways for Grades 11-12, including two IB options. All students access a broad range of arts, sciences, maths, and humanities subjects and continue their daily-leveled modern language (Spanish or Chinese).

To develop the whole child, students undergo the Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS) program. During Grades 11 and 12, students are asked to participate in, document evidence for and reflect on a range of experiences that cover seven different learning outcomes. They also complete a ‘CAS Project’ and demonstrate everything through a CAS Portfolio.

The Award for Young People (AYP), receive weekly lessons in social-emotional skills, and benefit from several local and international excursions. Stamford students graduate equipped to flourish academically and personally at their university of choice.

American Standards: Building A Strong Academic Foundation for Global College Destinations

The foundation of the Stamford curriculum is the proven American Education Reaches Out and Common Core Plus standards. The adoption of grade-level standards ensures that students have the skills and concepts in each subject to be ready for success in the next grade. Ultimately students are prepared for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) or diploma pathway of choice. A particular focus on math, literacy, and sciences helps set this curriculum apart from other through-train IB schools.

Graduation Pathway

At Stamford, students learn through an engaging inquiry-based approach that promotes hands-on learning and the application of knowledge across multiple subjects. Using the curriculum standards as a framework allows teachers to accelerate and personalize instruction to maximize student growth. Ongoing assessments throughout the year ensure students stay on track for successful graduation.

In-Demand Skills

Success today is not measured by grades alone; students must possess the life skills nurtured by an IB education, such as solid communication skills, risk-taking, and daring to ask bold questions. Stamford is the only school to offer an integrated STEMinn program (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math and Innovation) and Cornerstones (hands-on experience with industry expert mentors). Stamford graduates have an advantage over their peers as these programs allow them to build a portfolio of innovative projects while developing the top globally in-demand skills.
