Assessment Overview

Learn more about the entry assessment for elementary and secondary students. In addition to the entry assessment, all of the application documents will be considered in the final offer decision.

Pre-Primary and Grade 1

  • Small group assessment in English
  • Speaking, Listening and Reading (Pre-reading tasks such as recognition of the alphabet and common sight words as well as phonetic sounds may be done)
  • Behavior and age-appropriate social-emotional skills may be observed
  • School Reports and Teacher Recommendation
  • Time approx.: 45 – 60 minutes

Grade 2 – 5

  • An individual assessment in English
  • Speaking, Listening and Reading (simple words and sentences) and Writing (sentences)
  • Social-emotional development skills are observed
  • School Reports and Teacher Recommendation
  • Time approx.: 45 – 60 minutes

Grade 6 – 12

  • An individual assessment in English
  • Speaking, Listening and Reading (comprehension) and Writing (composition/narrative writing)
  • Social and personal development skills are also observed
  • School Reports, Student Questionnaire and Teacher Recommendation
  • Meeting with Academic Leadership (Grade 10+ only)
  • Time approx.: 60 – 70 minutes
